Bob and Tom Show fans have heard Paul Thorn, a talented singer – song writer who writes clever, funny lyrics to his songs. Paul's best known song, "It's a Great Day to Whup Somebody's Ass," was written as a joke for the show.
Hear the interview I did with him this week (click HERE or on the "Podcasts" button at top of page). He tried, unsuccessfully, to characterize his music, but gives us a clue where it all started and his goals for his live shows.
Paul Thorn plays tonight and tomorrow night at Galesburg's home for blues and live music, Fat Fish Pub. Tonight's show is a full band acoustic show, while tomorrow night's is a full, electric show.
He's an interesting Southern man, having grown up in Elvis Presley's hometown of Tupelo, Mississippi. He eventually became a top-10 professional boxer, even fighting the great Roberto Duran on national TV. But music was always in his life, growing up the song of a preacher of a bi-racial Southern church.
