For a band that’s nearing its 50th birthday this year, Aerosmith was busy this past weekend. Friday night, the band was honored as the MusicCares Person of the Year, the first time a full band won that honor. MusicCares helps former musicians that have fallen upon hard times, physically or financially.

Estranged drummer Joey Kramer took the stage Friday night to receive the honor with his bandmates for the award ceremony.  But he was not behind the kit for either of the weekend shows, as the band rejected his recent audition as not worthy, his attempted to sue to rejoin the band having failed.

Sunday night, the former bad boys from Boston played live during the Grammy Awards show in Los Angeles.  Aerosmith performed “Livin’ on the Edge,” then re-united with Run DMC for “Walk This Way.”  Friday night’s performed tunes were “Big Ten Inch,” “Dream On” and “Sweet Emotion.”

Aerosmith will head back to Las Vegas to continue its residency there. And come September, the band will play Fenway Park for its 50th birthday celebration show.
