Second-Ranked Dunlap Hosts Pekin In Super Nutrition Red Zone GOW Friday

Week three of the high school football season brings the Mid Illini Conference’s opening games, and our Super Nutrition Red Zone Game of the Week is second-ranked (2-0) Dunlap hosting (1-1) Pekin on Friday night.

Last season, the Eagles soared to second place in the state in the Class 5A IHSA playoffs, and the AP polls have Dunlap in that second slot again, behind only Mid Illini rival, Washington. Dunlap, Washington, Morton and Metamora are all 2-0 out of the gate and looking good. Pekin, meanwhile, scored an impressive opening week road win before falling badly to state power Sterling last week.

Former Illini starting lineman and Peoria Pirates coach Tony Johnson and I will call the action from Dunlap, while Tom Meredith will bring you live scoring updates and play by play from Peoria Stadium, where the state-ranked (2-0) Peoria High Lions face Rock Island. The Lions routed Notre Dame, scoring 70 points in the process, in our Game of the Week last Friday. Jason Glick tracks all the scores and produces our broadcast from the Red Zone studio.
