Washington’s Colton Underwood Makes First Cut On The Bachelorette [VIDEO]

Let me establish a couple things right off the bat.

1) I hate reality TV. I like to watch TV and movies written by professionals, I like my models to be super models, no need for them to be heard. I like my actors and comedians to be professionals, too. Reality TV seems to attract people who want to be one of the above professions, but doesn’t have the talent to make it in those fields professionally, though they may have good looks and charisma.

2) I’m a big fan of Washington native Colton Underwood, having called his high school football games on another radio station back in the day.

Those points conflict me because Colton’s now a contestant on the ABC reality TV show, The Bachelorette, one of 28 dudes vying for the love and hand in marriage (?) of Becca Kufrin, who, I guess, got stiffed as a contestant on a recent Bachelor series. Now, do I give in and watch reality TV since I and many of you know all around good guy, Colton? I haven’t watched them since I had to for my job, The Morning Mix on WMBD-TV, as we interviewed the people who got booted off the island in Survivor and out of the house in Big Brother when those franchises were just getting going years ago.

After starring on central Illinois high school football fields,  Colton went off to star at Illinois State before spending time in NFL camps and practice squads for a few years with San Diego, Philadelphia and Oakland. He’s best known nationally for dating U.S.A. Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast, Aly Raisman a year or two ago. That relationship ended amicably.

Colton apparently survived the first cut last night on the season debut of The Bachelorette. Below is a video of him talking prior to the competition. He’s a 26-year-old CEO of a non profit organization and now retired from football. It’s only a matter of time before he lands a beauty, but careful what you wish for, Colton!
