Late morning show host Anna Kindaide and I got to see and tour the St. Jude Dream Home last night, prior to the Open Houses beginning this weekend. My impression of the home in a word – “Wow!”
While all the Dream Homes have been beautiful and large and stocked with neat features, the 2018 model, custom built by Scott Lewis Homes, is the sweetest of them all. And the estimated value of the home, $650,000, is also the highest thusfar. No wonder the we’re heading for yet another record in ticket sales.
Open houses begin this weekend. They’ll run Saturdays 9a-5p and Sundays noon ’til 5p. The home is in the Copperfield subdivision off Rt. 91, near Dunlap High School. Address is 620 W. Copper Ridge Ct.
I spoke with builder Scott Lewis about this home, the first he’s built for the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway.
He rattled off numerous cool features like the 18 foot cathedral ceiling that greets you when you open the front door. The high ceiling extends into the living room, which has a wall of windows rising about15 feet above the hard wood floors.
Scott mentions the high-end extras that this home has, like beautiful, sturdy, Amish cabinets and top-of-the-line Bosch kitchen appliances. The kitchen island with granite countertops, is the largest I’ve seen with a touch-controlled faucet and sink in the middle, seating four on one side.
The master bedroom has a unique tray ceiling, with seven windows, three smaller ones above the bed. The master bath is long, with two sinks, leading to a large walk-in closet. The house has at least five walk-in closets and six bathrooms, too, I think. Jack N Jill kids bedrooms with a shared bathroom…unique, 3-car garage…huge basement..main floor laundry…you name it.
The open houses will run for a month or so, leading up to the grand prize drawing April 25. You can buy your Dream Home raffle ticket there – there’s only around 1,000 out of the 8,000 left! And even if you’re just sight seeing, you can sign up to win the Open House Prize: a $6,000 shopping spree at Carpet Weavers / Furniture Company.
