Back in the day, live albums could sometimes elevate a rock performer to superstar status. Live albums provided huge career boosts to Bob Seger, The J Geils Band, REO Speedwagon and Kiss, to name a few, but none were as big as “Frampton Comes Alive” in 1976. Everyone in my crowd owned a copy of the double LP, and radio in my hometown of Detroit played songs off it for a year solid it seemed.

“Frampton Comes Alive” served as Peter Frampton’s greatest hits album and sold over eight million copies in the United States alone! The one-time Humble Pie guitarist gone solo would never reach the heights of that album again, heck, how could he. But it didn’t matter.
More recently, in addition to regular touring, he’s been dropping into the Bob and Tom Show, where his affable English charm shines through.
Frampton is playing Peoria, Wednesday, March 28, at the Civic Center Theater. Tickets go on sale now the box office and through Ticketmaster. You can charge by phone at 800-745-3000.
