Rick Springfield burst on to the rock scene and your TV screens in the early 80’s. He scored numerous top 10 hits back then, including “I’ve Done Everything For You” (see below). Four of his songs earned Grammy nominations, and “Jessie’s Girl” won one in ’82. At the same time, he was becoming a television soap opera star, portraying Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital.
His popularity, especially with women, has endured. See him Sunday, March 19, at the Limelight Eventplex in Peoria. The saucy Aussie is touring in support of his 2016 album, “Rocket Science.” General admission tickets start at $35.
In 1981 and 82 he produced back-to-back top 10 albums, “Working Class Dog” and “Success Hasn’t Spoiled Me Yet,” which were snapped up by many of our generation, including me at the used record store in Kalamzoo, MI, where I was attending college. He had a knack for catchy, pop-rock guitar licks and fist-pumping rock anthems. His ballads made women melt, His Australian accent was unique, and his Hollywood looks didn’t hurt, either.
Get tickets for the March 19 show at the Limelight box office during business hours and online through their website – HERE. Rick Springfield plays Peoria, from Bud Light and Peoria’sonly 80’s classic rock station, 95.5, GLO.
