For most of the past few decades, the Richwoods Knights have gotten the best of their North Peoria rivals, Notre Dame, on the high school football field. That’s changed the past couple years as Joe Walters built his Irish team into a state contender. Now, with new coach Sean Gillen, Notre Dame has picked up right where they left off during the end of the Walters reign.

Friday night, the two nearby schools meet at Richwoods’ Endres Field for bragging rights on the Illinois National Bank Red Zone Game of the Week Presented by OSF Healthcare. The Irish are 4-1 and ranked #3 in the new AP Class 5A poll. Richwoods is off to its second straight 1-4 start since joining the Big Twelve and will look to pull the upset on its homecoming game. The pregame show starts at 6:30p, featuring interviews with the two head coaches. Kick’s at 7 O’Clock.

Our secondary game, which we’ll go to live if the main game becomes lopsided, features a key Mid Illini matchup between 3-2 Washington and 2-3 Dunlap, coming off its upset loss at Morton. Washington bounced back from its 14-7 loss at Metamora to trounce Limestone on our Red Zone game of last week.
