We’ve reached the midpoint of the high school football season, and both Washington and Limestone need to bounce back after tough losses last week. Only problem is, they face off against each other in our week 5 main game of our Illinois National Bank Red Zone Game of the Week Presented by OSF Healthcare.

Both of last week’s losses came on Saturday, due to their usual Friday games being weather-postponed. Washington fought hard, but fell 14-7 at Metamora in their huge Mid Illini rivalry game. The loss dropped Washington to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in conference. Unbeaten Limestone fell to 3-1 last weekend, getting clobbered by previously winless Morton, 33-0, on the Rockets’ homecoming game.

Hard to figure that one, and it’ll be interesting to see how the Panthers and Rockets respond to adversity. Longtime Peoria Pirates head coach Bruce Cowdrey will be at Babcook Field to find out. Last season, Washington beat Limestone in week 5 in and again in week 10, in the first round of the state playoffs.
