Just a little over a decade ago, June 3, 2006, Zach McAllister and his IVC Grey Ghost baseball team won the Class A state championship at Silver Cross Park (a game I got to call live on the radio for those who couldn’t make the trek to Joliet, BTW.) Z Mac would go on to be a high draft pick of the New York Yankees, eventually being traded to the Cleveland Indians. Last night, the first place Tribe had McAllister on the mound when he faced veteran catcher Kurt Suzuki. Suzuki ripped a laser back at Zach, who used some strange hackey sack-type survival move to make an incredible putout and take away a hit. The hit ball was speeding toward the local boy done good at about 100 mph, and he took the brunt of it with his calf. Watch the video of it below.
