Local boy done good Colton Underwood is trying to stick and stay in the NFL, after being picked up by the Oakland Raiders in the off season and switching positions from defensive end to tight end. In addition to trying to survive in the NFL, Underwood’s been plenty busy this summer, hosting football camps and fundraisers and opening his own restaurant in his hometown of Washington. Now, the former Washington Panther and ISU football star is trying to make a love connection with a famous athlete.

Yesterday, a video (see below) went viral of him asking out U.S. Olympic gold medal winning gymnast Aly Raisman on a double date. And Raiman, one of the biggest stars of the recent Rio Olympic games, said, “Yes.”

Now, the initial reports made it sound like Underwood had randomly asked out a famous star athlete. But, turns out, there’s more to it. His Raiders teammate and long snapper Andrew East is married to former U.S. Olympic star Shawn Johnson, who obviously knows current star and two-time Olympian Raisman. I saw a report that Colton had popped his head over East’s during a FaceTime East was having with his wife, while Aly was in the background. Underwood apparently, said, “Hi” to Raisman during that convo.

So, now that Raisman has accepted the double date invite, we’ll look to see if Underwood can keep scoring on and off the field.
