If you haven’t figured out that New Amsterdam along Peoria’s riverfront is the place to go after work each Wednesday, you’re missing out. Each Wednesday from 5-7 p.m., I do the last half of my afternoon show from the second floor patio, overlooking the Illinois river. Dozens of folks come out for the great food, Happy Hour drink specials, beautiful view of the riverfront and free prizes.
This past Wednesday, Cyndee Kenney of Kewanee won a pair of tickets to see the reunited Guns N Roses at Soldier Field on July 3. And I’ve got one more pair of GNR tickets to give away at next Wednesday’s (6/8) Happy Hour stop, just be present for the drawing at 7 p.m. for your chance to win those tickets. I usually have other giveaways, too.
Todd and his staff create new food and drink specials each Wednesday, but this week’s $2.00 margaritas were a popular choice. Plus, there’s always the fine food to savor, like jet-fresh seafood, aged steaks and all sorts of tasty appetizers if you prefer lighter fare. The bar has an impressive 28 rotating draft beers, enough to satisfy any beer lover, and the $8 flights, where you choose four beers and get a six ounce glass of them is always a hit.
Join us every Wednesday evening for Hump Day Happy Hour all summer long at New Amsterdam, on Water Street, downtown Peoria, across from the museum with Peoria’s classic rock station, 95.5, GLO.
