Dennis DeYoung, founding member of the great Chicago classic rock band Styx, is coming to Bloomington’s Center for the Performing Arts Friday night. The guy who sang lead vocals and wrote seven of the band’s eight top ten hits will deliver those and other great Styx tunes, regardless of the original singer. He’ll be backed by a full band, too.
DeYoung was the signature voice of the band for most of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, and his dynamic keyboard play also stood out for this home state band that hit the big time. His classics include: Lady, Come Sail Away, Babe, Too Much Time on my Hands, Best of Times, etc. And since he had a role in writing or coordinating so many of the other hits, like Renegade, Blue Collar Man, Suite Madam Blue, Rockin’ the Paradise and more, he’ll perform those, too.
Tickets are available at the box office. And listen to my afternoon show this week, Monday through Wednesday, for your chance to win a pair of tickets to see Dennis DeYoung and the Music of Styx Friday night in Bloomington.
