It’s been a little over a dozen years since veteran Philadelphia musicians and studio producers Paul Sinclair and Paul Hammond teamed up to honor Led Zeppelin’s music and start a cover band. At first, they played a weekly club date in Philly. But as word got out about how true they were to Zeppelin’s music and how well they played it, they found they had a new calling in the music industry, and their “happy accident” avocation became their nationwide vocation.
The six-man veteran group plays Peoria Friday night at the Civic Center Theater. Like pretty much all their stops, their audience grows with each appearance. Those of us who saw their debut here a year ago came away singing the band’s praises – how they were able to sound like the Zeppelin albums with live energy and electricity. That’s common across the country, where they regularly play to sold-out crowds.
I talked with co-founder Paul Hammond, who plays the lead guitar parts of Jimmy Page, to find out more about the band’s origins and what Zeppelin fans can expect Friday.
