Bears Head Into Bye Week With OT Loss To Detroit

Ya gotta give it to the Bears. They’ve been coming back in games lately but unfortunately their last attempt fell short in a 37-34 overtime loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

“The game was basically given to us and we had a lot of opportunities to win that game,” said Matt Forte. “We had some breakdowns in a lot of areas across the board, so it’s just frustrating and I’m [ticked] off about it. I don’t even want to go to the bye week. I just want to focus on the next team, truly.”

The Bears rallied from a 21-13 halftime deficit to take a 31-24 lead late in the game but got a late field goal and touchdown from Calvin Johnson to go up 24-21. However The Bears marched right down the field from their own 20 yard line with 20 seconds remaining to set themselves up for a Robbie Gould field goal which he converted to send the game to OT.

Unfortunately the Bears couldn’t get it going in the OT and eventually Lion’s quarterback Matt Stafford hooked up with Calvin Johnson for a huge 57 yard catch which set up the easy game winning field goal.

A bright spot for the Bears was the return of Alshon Jeffery, who caught 8 passes for 147 yards and a touchdown after being out the previous 4 games with a hamstring injury. FULL STORY

The Bears fall to 2-4 on the year heading into the bye week. But with the return of Jeffery and the resurgence of the passing game, the Bears have some things to be excited about when they face the Minnesota Vikings in 2 weeks.
