The St. Louis Cardinals Welcome the Peoria Chiefs
11:07AM Thursday
September 20, 2012

The Peoria Chiefs have changed from Cubs Blue to Cardinal Red and everyone seems to be very excited.

The Chiefs have struck a four year deal with the St. Louis Cardinals, but the Chiefs are no strangers to the Cardinals as they were affiliates with the major league organization back in the mid to late 90's.

Here's a little Chiefs affiliation history. From 1983-1984 they were affiliated with the California Angels. From 1985-1995 it was the Chicago Cubs, then form 1996-2004 the Chiefs moved the affiliation south to the St. Louis Cardinals. Then from 2005-2012 the Chiefs jumped back north to the color blue with the Chicago Cubs, and now, as of this week, and for the next 4 years, the Peoria Chiefs are officially seeing red with the St. Louis Cardinals once again.

Peoria Chiefs President Rocky Vonachen says he is excited about being back with the Redbirds and is ready to get a new season started.

The Chiefs will hold a press conference to announce the switch on Tuesday, September 25th.
