I recently had a chance to take the not-yet-on-the-market 2014 Acura RLX home with me for a couple days. I fell in love with this car and didn't want to give it up. It's one of the premiere luxury / performance cars out there. If you are looking in this vehicle category, you owe it to yourself to take it for a test drive soon at Bob Lindsay Acura on N. Allen Road in Peoria.
In layman terms, this car hauls ass and hugs the road, while giving you every conceivable amenity inside the ride. From a performance standpoint, it's powerful, with a 310 horsepower, V-6 engine. But unlike most high horsepower cars, the Acura RLX has rear wheel drive, so you won't fishtail in the snow or on wet pavement. I got it up to 75 mph on I-74 very quickly, and there was no shimmy or shake. It felt just as smooth and quiet at 30 or 70 mph. Even with all that power, it still gets 30 miles per gallon on the highway.
One of the Acura RLX's "world firsts" is the Precision All-Wheel Steering system. What that means is the rear wheels can adjust and turn (ever so slightly) on their own, independent of the front wheels. This allows for great stability and handling on turns and in high speed braking situations. You'll also like to park it, as the RLX has an incredibly tight turning radius.
This new vehicle - on sale March 18 at Bob Lindsay Acura - is also loaded with the latest technology to make it a "smart car" that almost drives itself. Wander out of your lane without turning on your blinker, and the lane departure warning lights and bells come on. There are lights near the dashboard that light up with you have a vehicle driving alongside your blind spot. I love that feature. Plus, it's got Addaptive Cruise Control that will slow down the RLX when it's getting too close to the car in front.
The 2014 Acura RLX has killer sound inside the quiet, roomy cabin, thanks to the Krell Audio package. This, too, is a "world first." Of course, it's got a navigation systems with two screens and a rear camera for backing out. Acuralink turns the car into an advanced mobile device, allowing you to interface your phone or tablet with it. You can do commands a number of ways, including voice commands.
I could go on....from the cool jewel eye LED headlights to the keyless access system (you never have to use the key to get in or start the car) to the heated rear seats. You, too, will fall in love with this car quickly. It goes on sale March 18 at Bob Lindsay Acura on N. Allen Rd in Peoria or find more info at BobLindsayAcura.com.
