Governor Pat Quinn has decided to cut ties and end the relationship with the states biggest union. Yesterday the Governor ended the state contract with AFSCME local 31 which had ended last June but was being extended.
A spokesman for the Governor said Quinn had terminated the contract because AFSCME never offered any proposals to help deal with the state's financial crisis in eleven months of bargaining.
AFSCME has about 40,000 members.
