Its official. The St. Louis Cardinals organization is now back in Peoria. Hundreds of fans turned out at Peoria Chiefs Stadium yesterday for the official announcment.
Peoria Chiefs president Rocky Vonachen and the Gerneral Manager of the St. Louis Cardinals John Mozeliak signed all the paperwork to make it official that the Chiefs and the Cardinals will be working together for the next four years and hopefully beyond.
When I look at all the people that came out today and see all the Cardinals fans who understand what it means, and the reaction, I know that we made the right decision,” Mozeliak said. “We never wanted to leave eight years ago, so knowing that we’re back here today means a lot to us.”
St. Louis was the Chiefs parent organization from 1995-2004 and then they switched over to the Cubs until they left for Kane County just a few months back.
Mozeliak also said their is a possibility of the Chiefs having some cardinals in Peoira for rehab assignments, but not like it has been recently with the Cubs.
