For the last 20 seasons, there has been at least one Peoria player on the Fighting Illini basketball team. However, after DJ Richardson from Peoria High finishes the season, there will be no more Peoria players on the Illni's upcoming roster.

Illini head coach John Groce hopes that will change

"Peoria is an important place. Great background here at the Univeristy of Illinois," said Illinois head coach John Groce. "Obviously meant a lot ot the basketball program. That's not going to change because we don't have a guy on our roster from Peoria. It's important."

The Illini finish they're season this week before heading into the Big 10 Tournement next week
