Heywood Banks is one of the most clever, yet silly, comedic singer/songwriters you'll ever see. Heywood is returning to the Jukebox Comedy Club for two shows each on Friday and Saturday nights. Times are a bit earlier than usual - 7p and 9:30p both nights. I also have a pair of tickets for the Friday night 9:30 show to giveaway during The Five O'Clock Free Ride each day this week.
Through our mutual friend, Jeff Lamb, the driving creative force of The Morning Mix TV show (WMBD 31), I've had the pleasure of knowing Heywood for some 16 years. Heywood would often do our "Big Show Friday" and entertain a live audience during his Peoria stops in the late 90's. He may have even guested on our rare "prime time" anniversary shows.
He's a bright man and a talented singer, songwriter and guitar player. As you'll hear in our interview, he opted not to chase the rock n roll band dream. Music's loss was comedy's gain. Click on the "Podcasts" button at the top of the GLO home page to hear the wide-ranging interview with one of Peoria's favorite comedic acts and longtime friend of the Bob and Tom Show, Heywood Banks! You'll hear about his early days in comedy and also what city throws toast at him, among other amusing Heywood tidbits.
