What a long, strange trip it's been for Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme, two of the five Broken Lizard comedy group members, who'll play Peoria for the second time this weekend at the Jukebox Comedy Club. I'll post the interview I did with them in its entirety in the "Podcasts" sections at the top of this page, and you'll hear bits of the interview on my afternoon show this week.
These guys are best known as film actors, but their comedic backgrounds are diverse, starting with sketch comedy during their frat boy years at Colgate University. After a process of elimination, their college group was whittled down to five and off they went to make a full length movie. "Puddle Cruiser" played at film festivals, but never got picked up by the big studios. Their breakout film, "Super Troopers," took nearly five tough years to get produced and financially backed. "Beerfest" was their fourth film, slipping in between "Club Dread" and "Slammin' Salmon."
Kevin and Steve have lots of films and projects completed in various stages, but they still love doing stand up. I'm giving away a pair of tickets to the Friday night 10:30 show each afternoon this week during the Five O'Clock Free Ride. Enjoy their visit to Peoria!
