You've heard us talk on G-L-O about Peoria's inaugural Honor Flight, which will take our American war veterans to Washington, D.C. , next week, on June 4 to see their respective memorials - at no cost to the veteran. The group is still in need of thousands of dollars to pay for this first ever Peoria-to-Washington one-day trip. It costs $80,000 to pay for a flight full of around 80 vets (from about two dozen area towns) and their guardians.
So, how about stopping into Crusens on Farmington Road on Thursday. Crusens will donate 10% of all the proceeds from 3 pm until close that day to the Honor Flight program in Peoria.
There'll be live music and raffle items to bid on, plus a 50-50 raffle and Cubs-Cards tickets given away. Our sister station, 105.7 The X will be there most of the afternoon and evening, so if you're thinking about starting your weekend off a little earlier, this would be the place to do so.
If you're not abel to do that, you can make donations at the website: greaterpeoriahonorflight.org or at the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/GreaterPeoriaHonorFlight?ref=hl They're planning a second flight in the September, so let's help our war heroes have one might tour with honor.
