The Former governor of Illinois and current inmate George Ryan is set to be released from prison at the end of the month.
When he finally does get released he won't be headed home however, just half way. Ryan will be staying at a half-way house in Chicago.
Former Ryan Chief of Staff Scott Fawell:
"It will be the first time he's worn his own clothes in six years, he'll be able to have a wallet, have some cash, a wallet, you know, things you don't have for a while if you've been gone for a while, things that feel good when you'd got them back. And you have to bring back a paycheck every week or two to give 25 percent of your gross to the halfway house," said Fawell.
Ryan will be able to return to his home in Kankakee a short while after but will still checked in on by parole officers.
