Fresh off their upset of nationally ranked Ohio State last weekend, the 12th-ranked Illinois basketball team faces another top 10 team tonight at Assembly Hall in its third game of the rugged Big 10 schedule. Minnesota comes in to Champaign with a 14-1 record that's moved the Gophers up to 8th in the national polls.
Minnesota is a deep, talented physical team that's flying a bit under the radar in the Big Ten, due to traditional powers Ohio State, Indiana and Michigan grabbing most of the headlines thusfar. The Gophers boast the top offensive rebounding team in the country and figure to have an advantage over the Illini in that department. Minnesota is riding a 10-game winning streak and its only loss this season is to undefeated, #1 Duke.
Last year, both games between Illinois and Minnesota went into overtime.
