I am not going to be "old guy who thinks everything was better when he was young guy." However, I present the results of a recent survey that asked folks to list things that aren't as good as they used to be. Keep in mind the way the question was asked - "list things that aren't as good as before." Also, I post this in a non political way. These results have nothing to do with Obama being in office.
Here are the top 15 things that aren't as good as they used to be:
1) Manners and politeness
2) The Weather
3) Bars
4) Schools
5) TV
6) Public Transportation
7) Banks
8) Children
9) Music
10) Doctors
11) The Police
12) Movies
13) Politicians
14) Sports
15) Sex
It's actually easy to complain about things, as you know, so I'm not surprised entirely by the list, especially with the way the question was presented. I'd move politicians WAY UP on this list. The weather? In central Illinois, it's ever changing, but warmer, so (again, not going political) I have no beef with the weather. Take it off my list. Bars? They're no worse than before, maybe better. Take that off the list. TV? Most of us pay for 200 channels, so even if many are unwatchable, I'm taking that off my list, too. I grew up with 4-5 stations to choose from, period. TV is better overall (and more costly) now.
Music? Yes, classic rock is my wheel house, but I'm eclectic enough to like some newer music. But I agree overall that music is not as good as it once was. Sex? Of course, it ain't what it once was, goes without saying, thanks to the aging process. Children? Yes, keep them on the list. Things like schools, public transportation, doctors and the police? I don't think they're necesarily worse than before. It all depends on your financial situation whether or not they're better or worse.
Also, in the survey, amazingly four things came up BETTER than they used to be: Restaurants, Cars, Vacations and Fashions! What's missing from these lists?
