Bear Blog: Bears Down Lions on Monday Night
10:16AM Tuesday
October 23, 2012

Hooray for Tuesday! Usually I don't say that but when the Bears play on Monday and win, it just puts me in a good mood. Our Monsters of the Midway took care of business on Monday Night  with a 13-7 win over Detroit. Here's some thoughts......

Defense Comes Through..... Again

I love that every week I get to talk about how great the Defense was. They were on top of they're game again last night, coming up with 5 turnovers and 4 forced fumbles. Also Charles Tillman is THE MAN. He held the best reciever in the league Calvin Johnson to just 3 catches for 34 yards.  These guys were supposed to be an after thought this year, yet they continue impress game after game. I'll say it right now, there's NO better defense in the league than the Bears. Quote me on that.

Big Tuff Jay Cutler

When Ndamukong Suh slammed Cutler to the turf late in the second quarter, I thought it was a broken collar bone for sure. Instead, he came back out one play later to a standing ovation and finished the game. He looked like he was hurting out there but he sucked it up and made plays.Reports today are that he has some bruised ribs. Props to Cutler for showing some toughness. Lets see more of that.

Another Good Game From Marshall

6 catches for 81 yards and a touchdown. Not only that he made some big third down grabs as well. I love seeing the Cutler to Marshall combination. These two guys are going to take us to the playoffs.

The Cover 2

Lovie smith plays the Cover 2 bend don't break defense. They'll give up yards but for the most part keep you out of the endzone. When it works its great. When it doesn't, the points start adding up. So far this year its been working so why change it. I'd like to see some more man coverage but If I knew what I was talking about I would be out there. As long as Lovie is our coach the Bears will play Cover 2. It seems to be working.

More Points Please

The Bears need to score more points on offense. Alot of points have come from the defense this year but they can't do that every week. Lets get in the endzone fellas! Run the ball and let Forte get in there. Alot of really nice drives stalled last in the redzone. They should have scored at least 2 more offensive touchdowns last night.

On To Next Week

Well were 5-1 and in good shape. Next up is the Carolina Panthers who stink this year. Although stopping Cam Newton could be tough and it could be a trap game for the Bears if they're not carful. My prediction: Bears 35-10. They're gonna put up some offensive touchdowns and maybe one from the defense as well. Stop Cam Newton and win the game. Go Bears!
