The Bears looked like an actual football team last night when they defeated the Dallas Cowboys 34-18 on Monday Night Football. How did they accomplish such a feat? Could this be the start of something great? Some thoughts on last night's game.
The Bears D in Big D
Holy defense Batman! Five interceptions! Are you kidding me? I can't remember the last time that happend, let alone 2 being ran back for touchdowns! I'll admit the first Pick 6 was because Dez Bryant can't run a route but the second one was ALL Bears. It looked like Lance Briggs intercepted the ball off a deflection but it also could have been a fumble by Romo. Either way, it resulted in 7 points. Briggs probably hasn't ran like that since he crashed his Lamborghini on the Edens Expressway.
Pretty in Pink
The Bears sure did look nice in their pink gear. Pink shoes, socks, gloves and I especially liked the pink sleeves that defensive tackle Henry Melton was sporting. I say they should stick with the pink all season if they're gonna play like that.
Marshall Law
When I first heard we signed Brandon Marshall in the offseason, I was excited because I knew the type of player he was. Everyone said he was troubled, and he is but under the right coaching and the right situation, he's capable of awesome things. 7 catches, 138 yards and a touchdown last night. He made some key third down grabs and and was Cutler's go to guy all night when it mattered. He's on pace for a 100 catch, 1,000 yard season which hasn't happend since Marty Booker back in 2002.
Hey Dez, Thanks for the Win
So the game might have been a little closer if it wasn't for Cowboys wide reciever Dez Bryant. Several drops on third down plus he ran a wrong route that resulted in a pick 6 for the Bears. Somebody get that guy some delicious Chicago style pizza on the house!
"This Guy, That Guy" with John Gruden
The one thing about Monday Night Football is that you have to play "This Guy, That Guy " with John Gruden. "This guy right here, that guy's a football player," or "Watch this guy hit that guy." Its funny for a while but then it gets old. It makes for a fun drinking game though.
It's a Kyle Orton Sighting!
I was thrilled when the Cowboys put in their backup QB Kyle Orton when the game was out of hand. Orton used to play for the Bears, taking them to the playoffs as a rookie. I was a big fan and it really made me mad when he got pushed out of town for Jay Cutler. He came in, was 9 of 10 for 89 yards and a touchdown. I hope it stirr's a quarterback controversy In Dallas. Go Neckbeard!
Bear Fans Invade Dallas
I don't know if was just me but I noticed there was alot of orange and blue in the stands. They were cheering first downs and touchdowns, it almost felt like a home game. Bet Jerry Jones didn't like that one bit. Go fans!
Wrap up
Best game of the year BY FAR! The defense looked great and the offense got it done when they had to. I was hoping to see Devin Hester run one back but he did have a touchdown catch, so I guess that will have to do. This win makes me hopeful for the rest of the year. Of course it's the Bears, play good one week, stink it up the next. Speaking of which, next up is the Jacksonville Jaguars at Jacksonville. They're 1-3 and they stink. Should be another Bears win. My prediction: Bears 28-Jags 14. Go Bears!
