Bear Blog: Another Bears Loss
9:18AM Monday
December 17, 2012

Ok, this is starting to get old. Another Sunday and another Bears loss. This time to the Packers 21-13 and not only that, that they lost the division and a wild card spot. It was a rough weekend.

The Streak Continues

After starting off 7-1, The Bears have now dropped 5 of six and are now out of the wildcard spot. If they don't make the playoffs it will be the first time a team has started 7-1 and not made the playoffs since since the Washington Redskins in 1993. In order to make the playoffs now, the Bears will have to win out and then get some help from some other teams. Anything could happen in the next few weeks but it's not looking good right now.

Ticky Tacky

The offensive pass interference calls on Alshon Jeffery were getting rediculous. He had three called on him and each one looked like it should have been a no call. The last straw was that no call at the end of the game when he was CLEARLY held by Green Bay DB Sam Shields but there was no call. Maybe the refs were making up for that call in Seattle but if there going to call offensive pass interference all game long, they better not miss that call at the end. Terrible.

Missed Opportunites

The Bears had their chances. Who knows what Randall Cobb was thinking when he tossed the ball back during that punt return late in thet fourth quarter. However the Bears couldn't get in the endzone and settled for a field goal. They also had first and goal in third quarter and couldn't score on three Matt Forte goal line runs. It was very frustrating to watch.

More bad QB Play

I don't know whats going on with Jay Cutler. That interception he threw at the end of the first half really put the Bears in a hole after Green Bay scored off it. On the sidelines he looked like he was yelling at someone but from the replay it just looked like a bad throw and poor decision on his part. There were also wasted time outs and who know what he was thinkin on the last drive of the game. Granted they had to go 99 yards in one minute but there is no excuse for taking that sack. He had ALL DAY back there to throw. Then he took his sweet ass time getting up off the ground and pretty much let the clock run down to 00. It looked like he just gave up. Maybe he was hurt, who knows. In any case, I  put alot of this loss on him. However, I'm sure he doesn't see it that way.

Coaching Change?

I've been a huge supporter of Lovie Smith but now, not so much. It seems like the whole coaching staff needs to be replaced. Don't get me wrong the players deserve alot of the blame, but alot of these losses are because of bad play calling and poor game management. If the Bears don't make the playoffs, I say clean house and start over. Lovie had 9 seasons with the Bears. They went to the Superbowl and won the division a few times. He did a good job but I think its time for some new blood.

Two More to Go

The Bears finish there season on the road at Arizona and Detroit. Two winnable games. If they can somehow manage to pull that off, they'll be 10-6 and maybe in the playoffs. Its been a tough year with injuries but Jay Cutler and company need to fight through them get the job done. If Cutler is the elite qb he says he is, then he HAS to have two huge games. The defense NEEDS turnovers and Matt Forte needs to start getting in the endzone. I hope next Monday when I write this column it will be about the Bears upcoming playoff chances and not just looking twoard next year.

Go Bears
