A couple thousand Alice Cooper fans, including this veteran DJ, saw Alice Cooper entertain us last night in typical over-the-top, macabre fashion at the Civic Center Theater in Peoria. The godfather of shock rock can still rock and hang – he sounds about like he always did – and that’s damn impressive considering the fellow native Detroiter is now 71.

If you missed the show or just love Alice to pieces, we’re giving away 10 pairs of tickets this week on GLO. Listen during Tim’s noon hour and during my 5 O’Clock Free Ride daily this week for a chance to win a pair of tickets for the Alice Cooper + Halestorm show, Sunday, July 21, at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, outside of Chicago.

Alice Cooper was in great form last night in Peoria, playing before a close-to-sold out Civic Center Theater. I’d seen him last time he was here – about three years ago – and his set list was quite different this time around. Of course, the super-sized, live props were abundantly fun, and you can’t go to an Alice show and not see someone lose their head via guillotine! I could argue that super fit, bombshell, lead guitarist “Hurricane” Nita Strauss steals the show at times with her dynamic playing of wireless guitars while bouncing around and tossing her blond hair around.

Halestorm is fronted by Lizzy Hale and her brother, the drummer. FWIW, I don’t care much for rock bands from the last decade or two, but I do love Halestorm, having discovered them through our sister station, 105-7 The X. Give ’em a listen if you haven’t gotten on the Halestorm bandwagon already. They rock without being too obnoxious or negative, and Lizzy’s talented and charismatic for sure.

Tickets provided by Live Nation, from your classic rock concert connection for the past 25 years, 95.5, GLO!
