The Who takes its Moving On! Symphonic Tour! to Tinley Park’s Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre tonight. The legendary band – part of our rock royalty Bud Light Mt. Rockmore contest – hopes to contend with fewer birds this evening.

According to The Who’s band tech, Brian Kehew, Saturday night’s Noblesville, IN, show was marred by birds who live in the concert structure and rafters year-round. The birds welcomed the band with screeches and bird crap. The group had to hustle to find covers for their electronic equipment and instruments.

I can attest that at my home, The Watson Compound, we have multiple, busy, birds nests with baby birds hatching and learning to fly. One of our husky’s got a little one on the patio just yesterday. So, at the Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center in suburban Indy, the outdoor concert structure was busy with birds doing their spring thing, leaving the band and crew on high alert for pooping birds. And sometimes, the baby birds would fall out of the nests and drop dead! Kehew reports that at least five baby chicks fell 50 or so feet from the rafters to their demise during the event.

Birthing birds should not be a problem for the winner of our Bud Light Mt. Rockmore contest, where one winner wins a pair of tickets to see three huge shows this summer. The Who’s show in our prize pack is outdoors, but it’s in early September in Wisconsin September 8 at Alpine Valley. Qualifying continues at 9a, noon and 4p weekdays. Tickets provided by Brewers Distributing and 95.5, GLO!
