You know by now that Bob Seger’s playing his final Peoria performance on Tuesday night, Jan. 22, at Carver Arena inside the Peoria Civic Center. It’s been one of the toughest tickets to score for months and is sure to be one of the most memorable shows at the Civic Center in a long time.
Since Bob Seger’s a hometown hero of mine, I’ll have mixed emotions for this final show. I’m guessing this will mark about a half dozen Seger shows I’ve caught over the years, starting at Cobo Hall in Detroit in the late 70’s (the “Live Bullet” era), with the most recent one being in Rosemont in May of 2011. His voice was a bit more raspy and couldn’t sing all the high parts, but it didn’t detract from a great, soulful, energetic show with a full 12-piece band and backup singers backing him on a 25-song set that included an intermission. (Pic below from 9th row.)
So, I figured it would be great to do a Bob Seger Week on Doc’s Deep Dive at 6:15p weeknights. But since the show’s on a Tuesday night and two nights of priming is not enough, I’ll be doing a Bob Seger Week – plus! Seven straight nights of Bob, just part of our celebrating 50 years of Seger!
