This weekend, we’re inviting you to get your Ya Ya’s out with us, Peoria’s classic rock station. We’re queuing up blocks of Stones music at the top of every hour from Friday at noon ’til Sunday at 9 pm.

It’s a Rolling Stones Appreciation Block Party Weekend on GLO! You’ll hear three and four song blocks from the self-proclaimed “Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World,” The Rolling Stones.

Paying homage to The Stones is deserved, of course, and we’re reminded from time to time – like Tom Petty’s unexpected passing recently- to not take our rock n roll legends for granted. So why not honor the boys from London this weekend?

The Stones played their first gig in July of 1962.  Think about that. They’ve been a band for almost as long as I’ve been alive! 55 years ago, the were essentially a rhythm and blues cover band, borrowing from black, American blues players and their records that made it across the pond. Same goes for The Beatles, and neither of the legendary bands hides that from their past, in fact, they embrace their roots.

Also this weekend, when we’re not playing The Stones, we’ll play blocks of songs from our other Hall of Fame-caliber bands and artists. So, turn it up and enjoy Mick, Keith, Charlie and Ronnie during the Rolling Stones Appreciation Block Party this weekend on Peoria’s only home for The Stones, 95.5, GLO.
