We’re keeping the high school football spotlight on the small schools in week 8 action this Friday night. Our main Red Zone Game of the Week presented by Illinois National Bank will be a key Heart of Illinois game: 5-2 Eureka at 5-2 Dee Mac. Both are 2-1 in conference, trailing 3-0 Tri Valley, which hosts Dee Mac in the regular season finale in week 9.

Our secondary game is the rivalry game in the Lincoln Trail Conference, 6-1 Princeville at 4-3 Stark County from Toulon. The Princes only loss this season was to first place Annawan/Wethersfield a couple weeks ago, while the Rebels are pushing for another playoff appearance. Stark County is in danger of having its 21-season playoff streak ended.

Friday marks the first time on the Red Zone broadcast for the resurgent Eureka Hornets, who are enjoying their second year in the Heart of Illinois Conference. Eureka gives up just 15 points a game and is looking to clinch a second straight playoff appearance. The defending Class 2A state champion Dee Mac Chiefs, meanwhile, righted the ship in a victory over Leroy last Friday, after dropping two straight games by a point each in weeks 5 and 6.
