Home state legends, Cheap Trick, will return to Peoria to help celebrate the third anniversary of the Limelight Eventplex on Thursday, February 9.

On February 9, 2014, the 20,000 square-foot entertainment venue opened its doors before a full house with great local musicians – 14 local bands in all – playing their favorite Beatles tunes. A grand time was had by all. Area musicians Danny Cash, Rick Owens and Devin Burch brought the idea of having a smaller, area concert venue (1,000-1,200 capacity) to North Peoria, and The Limelight – “where music lives” – has been a busy, acoustically-friendly place since.

Cheap Trick is coming off it 2016 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We’re thrilled to see the Rockford natives back in town, cranking out their arsenal of hits, fronted still by three original members: lead singer Robin Zander, lead guitarist Rick Nielsen and bassist Tom Petersson. Their power pop/rock sound became irresistible to the masses after their “Live at Budokan” break out album made them international stars. Their Japanese fans thought of Cheap Trick as the “American Beatles,” and the do often sound like the Fab Four, not that there’s anything wrong with that. @cheaptrick is their Twitter handle.

Tickets are on sale now at LimelightPeoria.com$30 for general admission, $60 for the VIP loft. You can also get ’em at the box office during business hours. Doors at 6p and Show at 7p. And listen to GLO for your chance to snag a pair soon.

Rick Nielsen’s son, Miles, will also return to Peoria with his band, The Rusted Hearts, opening for his famous dad’s band. It’s the third anniversary of the Limelight Eventplex on North University, just North of Pioneer Parkway, with recent Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, Cheap Trick, playing on Thursday, February 9, from Peoria’s only Cheap Trick station, 95.5, GLO.

If you’re wondering if the band can still bring it…this clip from last summer ought to answer that question.
