At 95.5,GLO, we specialize in playing the greatest rock and roll ever made by the great icons of rock. The rock and roll Hall of Famers play here, 24-7.

But we acknowledge that even the great ones had to start humbly from somewhere, and we love all kinds and styles of artists and bands that bring great passion and skills to their music. If you’d like to see a newer rock band with Midwest roots, see Wayland on Friday night at Crusens on Farmington Road in Peoria/West Peoria for just $10.

I can remember seeing a young Bob Seger and young John Mellencamp around the time that they became national, breakout stars. It’s cool seeing a band BEFORE they hit it big. Of course, Wayland, named after the small Michigan town the lead guitarist is from, may or may not make it to the promised land of rock. “It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll,” according to AC/DC’s Bon Scott. That’s the beauty of seeing a band on the way up – you just don’t know what the future holds for them, and that’s exciting for them and the audience.

Wayland is making its second Peoria appearance, after crushing it the first time, opening for Candlebox. Wayland showcases it’s high-energy, Midwest rock show with a charismatic lead singer in Mitch Arnold and great guitar work, led by Phillip Vilenski. See their Facebook page HERE.

Wayland’s been touring since 2012 and is managed by Jesse James Dupree of Jackyl and Full Throttle Saloon fame. The band’s opened for big-name groups like: Jackyl, Sammy Hagar, Alice Cooper, Halestorm, Alice in Chains, Bret Michaels, Slash, Hinder, Shinedown, Buckcherry, etc.

Enjoy the video from Wayland’s newest single, the chart-rising “Get a Little.” UGT – United Groove Theory opens for Wayland. See Wayland Friday night at Crusens on Farmington from Peoria’s home for classic rock, 95.5, GLO
